Starting Times, Distances and Costing

Start times for each distance will be strictly adhered to. Please ensure that you are in the correct starting blocks at least 30 minutes before your starting time. The starting block is situated in the road in front of the school by the old Big Five Venue.

Please take note: categories are subject to change, and depending on the quantity of entrants in each catergory, there might be categories that will be seeded together and then the prize money will be for the 1st five finishers in that seeded group.

Rules

• No Chip, No Prize Monies.
• Dq : If not entered in correct category.
• Prize monies to only registered riders.
• Decision of organisers are final.
• No Helmet, no ride.
• Entrance will be seeded in Categories.
• Substitution fee of R30-00 will be charged.
• The event will take place regardless of weather conditions and will only be cancelled
    for safety reasons. No refunds will be made.
• Winners must be at prize giving or prize monies will be forfeit.
• Winners must be 15 minutes before prize giving at podium.
• Each category need to have 5 or more entrants in order to qualify for prize money.

Competitors

• Non licensed and licensed cyclists.
• Unconventional will be allowed to compete in 48km, to start with Tandems.

Parking

There is Parking in the Sterkfontein Hospital Mental Institute at R5 and additional parking in open fields. Please see on second page.

The final cut-off time for the event is at 12:00 at the finish, where after the Marshalls will withdraw from the route. Cyclists who are unable to make the cut-off time are to complete the route at their own risk. A sweep vehicle will be available to pick up cyclists with mechanical or other problems. Please make use of the emergency numbers.

Timekeeping is done by Race Tec No Chip- no Results – no Prize! www.racetec.co.za

Ride Number

It is important that the official ride number is visible at all times. The number must be placed on your lower back or cycling shirt pocket. No other number will be allowed. Please note that an emergency number is printed on your ride number.

Changing of distances on route

Changing of distances without notifying the organizers will lead to immediate disqualification and no timing will be given.

For your safety

Please focus on the road at all times to avoid accidents, and follow signs and marshals instructions.

What to do at the finish line

Once you have crossed the finish line, turn left into the school gate to receive your medal and to find the waterpoint.

Medical

There will be full medial support on route and a medical facility at the finish line. The contact number for emergencies is: 079 879 0330 and VOC 0825405208. There will also be a Message Therapist at the finish in the school parking area.

Activities for kids

Tricycle / Run / Walk experience starts at 09:00. An Open play area will be available 06:00 until 11:00. There will be various entertainments to keep your child occupied. Entrée for the Toddler race is R10 per child and access to the play area is free. Entries for the race will take place at the number collecting venues and on the day of the event at the play area from 06:00 – 09:00. Age groups 3-5, 6-8, 9-12.

Refreshments
Plenty to eat and drink is on sale throughout the day at reasonable prices at school in Entertainment Area. (Cash only).

Please take note: you are not allowed to bring in your own picnic basket or refreshments, besides the supplements and fluids you would require before, during and after the race. Coffee will be sold at the start area.

Prize giving

The Prize giving will take place inside the School parking area 30 – 60 minutes after the first Elite cyclists have finished and as soon as we receive the results from the Officials and Timekeepers.

From the N1 highway take the 14th street off-ramp (Exit 80)
Turn towards 14th Avenue and then turn right onto Hendrik Potgieter Road (M47)
After 19Km take left ramp onto Paardekraal Drive (R28) and head up Krugersdorp hill
Exit left onto ramp onto Robert Broom Drive
Keep left onto Robert Broom Drive 9Km to Van Riebeeck Street
